										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<h3><span id="en-NIV-29925" class="text Titus-3-1">Saved in Order to Do Good</span></h3>
<p class="chapter-1"><span class="text Titus-3-1"><span class="chapternum">3 </span>Remind the people to be subject to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready to do whatever is good, <span id="en-NIV-29926" class="text Titus-3-2"><sup class="versenum">2 </sup>to slander no one, to be peaceable and considerate, and always to be gentle toward everyone.</span></span></p>
<p><span id="en-NIV-29927" class="text Titus-3-3"><sup class="versenum">3 </sup>At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another.</span> <span id="en-NIV-29928" class="text Titus-3-4"><sup class="versenum">4 </sup>But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, <span id="en-NIV-29929" class="text Titus-3-5"><sup class="versenum">5 </sup>he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit,</span><span id="en-NIV-29930" class="text Titus-3-6"><sup class="versenum">6 </sup>whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior,</span> <span id="en-NIV-29931" class="text Titus-3-7"><sup class="versenum">7 </sup>so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hopeof eternal life. <span id="en-NIV-29932" class="text Titus-3-8"><sup class="versenum">8 </sup>This is a trustworthy saying. And I want you to stress these things, so that those who have trusted in God may be careful to devote themselves to doing what is good. These things are excellent and profitable for everyone.</span></span></span></p>
<p><span id="en-NIV-29933" class="text Titus-3-9"><sup class="versenum">9 </sup>But avoid foolish controversies and genealogies and arguments and quarrels about the law, because these are unprofitable and useless. <span id="en-NIV-29934" class="text Titus-3-10"><sup class="versenum">10 </sup>Warn a divisive person once, and then warn them a second time. After that, have nothing to do with them. <span id="en-NIV-29935" class="text Titus-3-11"><sup class="versenum">11 </sup>You may be sure that such people are warped and sinful; they are self-condemned.</span></span></span></p>
<h3><span id="en-NIV-29936" class="text Titus-3-12">Final Remarks</span></h3>
<p><span class="text Titus-3-12"><sup class="versenum">12 </sup>As soon as I send Artemas or Tychicus to you, do your best to come to me at Nicopolis, because I have decided to winter there. <span id="en-NIV-29937" class="text Titus-3-13"><sup class="versenum">13 </sup>Do everything you can to help Zenas the lawyer and Apollos on their way and see that they have everything they need.</span> <span id="en-NIV-29938" class="text Titus-3-14"><sup class="versenum">14 </sup>Our people must learn to devote themselves to doing what is good, in order to provide for urgent needs and not live unproductive lives.</span></span></p>
<p><span id="en-NIV-29939" class="text Titus-3-15"><sup class="versenum">15 </sup>Everyone with me sends you greetings. Greet those who love us in the faith.</span></p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<h3><span id="en-NIV-29910" class="text Titus-2-1">Doing Good for the Sake of the Gospel</span></h3>
<p class="chapter-1"><span class="text Titus-2-1"><span class="chapternum">2 </span>You, however, must teach what is appropriate to sound doctrine. <span id="en-NIV-29911" class="text Titus-2-2"><sup class="versenum">2 </sup>Teach the older men to be temperate,worthy of respect, self-controlled, and sound in faith, in love and in endurance.</span></span></p>
<p><span id="en-NIV-29912" class="text Titus-2-3"><sup class="versenum">3 </sup>Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good.</span> <span id="en-NIV-29913" class="text Titus-2-4"><sup class="versenum">4 </sup>Then they can urge the younger women to love their husbands and children,</span><span id="en-NIV-29914" class="text Titus-2-5"><sup class="versenum">5 </sup>to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God.</span></p>
<p><span id="en-NIV-29915" class="text Titus-2-6"><sup class="versenum">6 </sup>Similarly, encourage the young men to be self-controlled. <span id="en-NIV-29916" class="text Titus-2-7"><sup class="versenum">7 </sup>In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness</span> <span id="en-NIV-29917" class="text Titus-2-8"><sup class="versenum">8 </sup>and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us.</span></span></p>
<p><span id="en-NIV-29918" class="text Titus-2-9"><sup class="versenum">9 </sup>Teach slaves to be subject to their masters in everything, to try to please them, not to talk back to them,</span> <span id="en-NIV-29919" class="text Titus-2-10"><sup class="versenum">10 </sup>and not to steal from them, but to show that they can be fully trusted, so that in every way they will make the teaching about God our Savior attractive.</span></p>
<p><span id="en-NIV-29920" class="text Titus-2-11"><sup class="versenum">11 </sup>For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. <span id="en-NIV-29921" class="text Titus-2-12"><sup class="versenum">12 </sup>It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age,</span><span id="en-NIV-29922" class="text Titus-2-13"><sup class="versenum">13 </sup>while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ,<span id="en-NIV-29923" class="text Titus-2-14"><sup class="versenum">14 </sup>who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.</span></span></span></p>
<p><span id="en-NIV-29924" class="text Titus-2-15"><sup class="versenum">15 </sup>These, then, are the things you should teach. Encourage and rebuke with all authority. Do not let anyone despise you.</span></p>

<h3><span class="text Titus-1-5">Appointing Elders Who Love What Is Good</span></h3>

<h3><span id="en-NIV-29903" class="text Titus-1-10">Rebuking Those Who Fail to Do Good</span></h3>
<p><span class="text Titus-1-10"><sup class="versenum">10 </sup>For there are many rebellious people, full of meaningless talk and deception, especially those of the circumcision group. <span id="en-NIV-29904" class="text Titus-1-11"><sup class="versenum">11 </sup>They must be silenced, because they are disrupting whole households by teaching things they ought not to teach—and that for the sake of dishonest gain.</span> <span id="en-NIV-29905" class="text Titus-1-12"><sup class="versenum">12 </sup>One of Crete’s own prophets has said it: “Cretans are always liars, evil brutes, lazy gluttons.”<sup class="footnote" style="font-size: 0.625em; line-height: normal; position: relative; vertical-align: text-top; top: auto; display: inline;" data-fn="#fen-NIV-29905c" data-link="[&lt;a href=&quot;#fen-NIV-29905c&quot; title=&quot;See footnote c&quot;&gt;c&lt;/a&gt;]">[<a title="See footnote c" href="https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Titus+1&amp;version=NIV#fen-NIV-29905c">c</a>]</sup></span> <span id="en-NIV-29906" class="text Titus-1-13"><sup class="versenum">13 </sup>This saying is true. In fact, both their minds and consciences are corrupted. <span id="en-NIV-29909" class="text Titus-1-16"><sup class="versenum">16 </sup>They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny him. They are detestable, disobedient and unfit for doing anything good.</span></span></span></span></span></p>

<p><span class="text Phlm-1-4"><sup class="versenum">4 </sup>I always thank my God as I remember you in my prayers, <span id="en-NIV-29944" class="text Phlm-1-5"><sup class="versenum">5 </sup>because I hear about your love for all his holy people and your faith in the Lord Jesus. <span id="en-NIV-29945" class="text Phlm-1-6"><sup class="versenum">6 </sup>I pray that your partnership with us in the faith may be effective in deepening your understanding of every good thing we share for the sake of Christ.</span> <span id="en-NIV-29946" class="text Phlm-1-7"><sup class="versenum">7 </sup>Your love has given me great joy and encouragement, because you, brother, have refreshed the hearts of the Lord’s people.</span></span></span></p>
<h3><span id="en-NIV-29947" class="text Phlm-1-8">Paul’s Plea for Onesimus</span></h3>
<p><span class="text Phlm-1-8"><sup class="versenum">8 </sup>Therefore, although in Christ I could be bold and order you to do what you ought to do,</span> <span id="en-NIV-29948" class="text Phlm-1-9"><sup class="versenum">9 </sup>yet I prefer to appeal to you on the basis of love. <p><span id="en-NIV-29951" class="text Phlm-1-12"><sup class="versenum">12 </sup>I am sending him—who is my very heart—back to you.</span> <span id="en-NIV-29952" class="text Phlm-1-13"><sup class="versenum">13 </sup>I would have liked to keep him with me so that he could take your place in helping me while I am in chains for the gospel.</span> <span id="en-NIV-29953" class="text Phlm-1-14"><sup class="versenum">14 </sup>But I did not want to do anything without your consent, so that any favor you do would not seem forced but would be voluntary.</span><span id="en-NIV-29954" class="text Phlm-1-15"><sup class="versenum">15 </sup>Perhaps the reason he was separated from you for a little while was that you might have him back forever—</span><span id="en-NIV-29955" class="text Phlm-1-16"><sup class="versenum">16 </sup>no longer as a slave, but better than a slave, as a dear brother. He is very dear to me but even dearer to you, both as a fellow man and as a brother in the Lord.</span></p>
<p><span id="en-NIV-29956" class="text Phlm-1-17"><sup class="versenum">17 </sup>So if you consider me a partner, welcome him as you would welcome me.</span> <span id="en-NIV-29957" class="text Phlm-1-18"><sup class="versenum">18 </sup>If he has done you any wrong or owes you anything, charge it to me. <span id="en-NIV-29958" class="text Phlm-1-19"><sup class="versenum">19 </sup>I, Paul, am writing this with my own hand. I will pay it back—not to mention that you owe me your very self.</span> <span id="en-NIV-29959" class="text Phlm-1-20"><sup class="versenum">20 </sup>I do wish, brother, that I may have some benefit from you in the Lord; refresh my heart in Christ.</span> <span id="en-NIV-29960" class="text Phlm-1-21"><sup class="versenum">21 </sup>Confident of your obedience, I write to you, knowing that you will do even more than I ask.</span></span></p>
<p><span id="en-NIV-29961" class="text Phlm-1-22"><sup class="versenum">22 </sup>And one thing more: Prepare a guest room for me, because I hope to be restored to you in answer to your prayers.</span></p>

<p><span id="en-NIV-29964" class="text Phlm-1-25"><sup class="versenum">25 </sup>The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit.</span></p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><span class="chapternum">4 </span>In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead,<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>and in view of his appearing<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>and his kingdom, I give you this charge:<span id="en-NIV-29873" class="text 2Tim-4-2"><sup class="versenum">2 </sup>Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction.</span><span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span><span class="text 2Tim-4-3"><sup class="versenum">3 </sup>For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine.Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. <span class="text 2Tim-4-4"><sup class="versenum">4 </sup>They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. <span id="en-NIV-29876" class="text 2Tim-4-5"><sup class="versenum">5 </sup>But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry.</span></span></span></p>

<p><span id="en-NIV-29877" class="text 2Tim-4-6"><sup class="versenum">6 </sup>For I am already being poured out like a drink offering,and the time for my departure is near. <span id="en-NIV-29878" class="text 2Tim-4-7"><sup class="versenum">7 </sup>I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.</span><span id="en-NIV-29879" class="text 2Tim-4-8"><sup class="versenum">8 </sup>Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.</span></span></p>

The Lord will repay him for what he has done.<span id="en-NIV-29886" class="text 2Tim-4-15"><sup class="versenum">15 </sup>You too should be on your guard against him, because he strongly opposed our message.</span></span></p>
<p><span id="en-NIV-29887" class="text 2Tim-4-16"><sup class="versenum">16 </sup>At my first defense, no one came to my support, but everyone deserted me. May it not be held against them.<span id="en-NIV-29888" class="text 2Tim-4-17"><sup class="versenum">17 </sup>But the Lord stood at my side and gave me strength,so that through me the message might be fully proclaimed and all the Gentiles might hear it. And I was delivered from the lion’s mouth. <span id="en-NIV-29889" class="text 2Tim-4-18"><sup class="versenum">18 </sup>The Lord will rescue me from every evil attack and will bring me safely to his heavenly kingdom. Have nothing to do with such people.</span></p>
<p><span id="en-NIV-29860" class="text 2Tim-3-6"><sup class="versenum">6 </sup>They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over gullible women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires,</span> <span id="en-NIV-29861" class="text 2Tim-3-7"><sup class="versenum">7 </sup>always learning but never able to come to a knowledge of the truth. <span id="en-NIV-29862" class="text 2Tim-3-8"><sup class="versenum">8 </sup>Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so also these teachers oppose the truth. They are men of depraved minds, who, as far as the faith is concerned, are rejected.</span> <span id="en-NIV-29863" class="text 2Tim-3-9"><sup class="versenum">9 </sup>But they will not get very far because, as in the case of those men,their folly will be clear to everyone.</span></span></p>
<h3><span id="en-NIV-29864" class="text 2Tim-3-10">A Final Charge to Timothy</span></h3>
<p><span class="text 2Tim-3-10"><sup class="versenum">10 </sup>You, however, know all about my teaching, my way of life, my purpose, faith, patience, love, endurance,</span><span id="en-NIV-29865" class="text 2Tim-3-11"><sup class="versenum">11 </sup>persecutions, sufferings—what kinds of things happened to me in Antioch, Iconium and Lystra, the persecutions I endured. <p class="chapter-1"><span class="text 2Tim-2-1"><span class="chapternum">2 </span>You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.</span> <span id="en-NIV-29830" class="text 2Tim-2-2"><sup class="versenum">2 </sup>And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.</span> <span id="en-NIV-29831" class="text 2Tim-2-3"><sup class="versenum">3 </sup>Join with me in suffering, like a good soldier of Christ Jesus.</span><span id="en-NIV-29832" class="text 2Tim-2-4"><sup class="versenum">4 </sup>No one serving as a soldier gets entangled in civilian affairs, but rather tries to please his commanding officer.</span><span id="en-NIV-29833" class="text 2Tim-2-5"><sup class="versenum">5 </sup>Similarly, anyone who competes as an athlete does not receive the victor’s crown except by competing according to the rules.</span> <span id="en-NIV-29834" class="text 2Tim-2-6"><sup class="versenum">6 </sup>The hardworking farmer should be the first to receive a share of the crops. <span id="en-NIV-29835" class="text 2Tim-2-7"><sup class="versenum">7 </sup>Reflect on what I am saying, for the Lord will give you insight into all this.</span></span></p>
<p><span id="en-NIV-29836" class="text 2Tim-2-8"><sup class="versenum">8 </sup>Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead,descended from David. This is my gospel, <span id="en-NIV-29837" class="text 2Tim-2-9"><sup class="versenum">9 </sup>for which I am suffering even to the point of being chained like a criminal. But God’s word is not chained.</span> <span id="en-NIV-29838" class="text 2Tim-2-10"><sup class="versenum">10 </sup>Therefore I endure everything for the sake of the elect, that they too may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus, with eternal glory.</span></span></p>
<p><span id="en-NIV-29839" class="text 2Tim-2-11"><sup class="versenum">11 </sup>Here is a trustworthy saying:</span></p>

<h3><span id="en-NIV-29842" class="text 2Tim-2-14">Dealing With False Teachers</span></h3>
<p><span class="text 2Tim-2-14"><sup class="versenum">14 </sup>Keep reminding God’s people of these things. Warn them before God against quarreling about words; it is of no value, and only ruins those who listen.</span> <span id="en-NIV-29843" class="text 2Tim-2-15"><sup class="versenum">15 </sup>Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth. <span id="en-NIV-29844" class="text 2Tim-2-16"><sup class="versenum">16 </sup>Avoid godless chatter, because those who indulge in it will become more and more ungodly.</span> <span id="en-NIV-29845" class="text 2Tim-2-17"><sup class="versenum">17 </sup>Their teaching will spread like gangrene. Among them are Hymenaeus and Philetus,</span> <span id="en-NIV-29846" class="text 2Tim-2-18"><sup class="versenum">18 </sup>who have departed from the truth. They say that the resurrection has already taken place, and they destroy the faith of some. <span id="en-NIV-29847" class="text 2Tim-2-19"><sup class="versenum">19 </sup>Nevertheless, God’s solid foundation stands firm, sealed with this inscription: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and, “Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord must turn away from wickedness.”</span></span></span></p>
<p><span id="en-NIV-29848" class="text 2Tim-2-20"><sup class="versenum">20 </sup>In a large house there are articles not only of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay; some are for special purposes and some for common use. <span id="en-NIV-29849" class="text 2Tim-2-21"><sup class="versenum">21 </sup>Those who cleanse themselves from the latter will be instruments for special purposes, made holy, useful to the Master and prepared to do any good work.</span></span></p>
<p><span id="en-NIV-29850" class="text 2Tim-2-22"><sup class="versenum">22 </sup>Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. <span id="en-NIV-29851" class="text 2Tim-2-23"><sup class="versenum">23 </sup>Don’t have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments, because you know they produce quarrels. <span id="en-NIV-29852" class="text 2Tim-2-24"><sup class="versenum">24 </sup>And the Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome but must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful.<span id="en-NIV-29853" class="text 2Tim-2-25"><sup class="versenum">25 </sup>Opponents must be gently instructed, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth, <span id="en-NIV-29854" class="text 2Tim-2-26"><sup class="versenum">26 </sup>and that they will come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will.</span></span></span></span></span></p>

<p class="top-05"><span class="text 2Tim-1-2">Grace, mercy and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.</span></p>
<h3><span id="en-NIV-29813" class="text 2Tim-1-3">Thanksgiving</span></h3>
<p><span class="text 2Tim-1-3"><sup class="versenum">3 </sup>I thank God, whom I serve, as my ancestors did, with a clear conscience, as night and day I constantly remember you in my prayers. <span id="en-NIV-29814" class="text 2Tim-1-4"><sup class="versenum">4 </sup>Recalling your tears, I long to see you, so that I may be filled with joy.</span> <span id="en-NIV-29815" class="text 2Tim-1-5"><sup class="versenum">5 </sup>I am reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also.</span></span></p>
<h3><span id="en-NIV-29816" class="text 2Tim-1-6">Appeal for Loyalty to Paul and the Gospel</span></h3>
<p><span class="text 2Tim-1-6"><sup class="versenum">6 </sup>For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands.<span id="en-NIV-29817" class="text 2Tim-1-7"><sup class="versenum">7 </sup>For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.</span> <span id="en-NIV-29818" class="text 2Tim-1-8"><sup class="versenum">8 </sup>So do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord or of me his prisoner. Rather, join with me in suffering for the gospel,by the power of God.</span> <span id="en-NIV-29819" class="text 2Tim-1-9"><sup class="versenum">9 </sup>He has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. <p><span class="text 2Tim-1-15"><sup class="versenum">15 </sup>You know that everyone in the province of Asia has deserted me, including Phygelus and Hermogenes.</span></p>

<h3><span class="text 1Tim-6-2">False Teachers and the Love of Money</span></h3>
<p><span class="text 1Tim-6-2">These are the things you are to teach and insist on. <span id="en-NIV-29792" class="text 1Tim-6-3"><sup class="versenum">3 </sup>If anyone teaches otherwise and does not agree to the sound instruction of our Lord Jesus Christ and to godly teaching,</span> <span id="en-NIV-29793" class="text 1Tim-6-4"><sup class="versenum">4 </sup>they are conceited and understand nothing. They have an unhealthy interest in controversies and quarrels about words that result in envy, strife, malicious talk, evil suspicions</span> <span id="en-NIV-29794" class="text 1Tim-6-5"><sup class="versenum">5 </sup>and constant friction between people of corrupt mind, who have been robbed of the truth and who think that godliness is a means to financial gain.</span></span></p>
<p><span id="en-NIV-29795" class="text 1Tim-6-6"><sup class="versenum">6 </sup>But godliness with contentment is great gain. <span id="en-NIV-29796" class="text 1Tim-6-7"><sup class="versenum">7 </sup>For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. <span id="en-NIV-29797" class="text 1Tim-6-8"><sup class="versenum">8 </sup>But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. <span id="en-NIV-29798" class="text 1Tim-6-9"><sup class="versenum">9 </sup>Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.</span><span id="en-NIV-29799" class="text 1Tim-6-10"><sup class="versenum">10 </sup>For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.</span></span></span></span></p>
<h3><span id="en-NIV-29800" class="text 1Tim-6-11">Final Charge to Timothy</span></h3>
<p><span class="text 1Tim-6-11"><sup class="versenum">11 </sup>But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness.</span> <span id="en-NIV-29801" class="text 1Tim-6-12"><sup class="versenum">12 </sup>Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses.</span> <span id="en-NIV-29802" class="text 1Tim-6-13"><sup class="versenum">13 </sup>In the sight of God, who gives life to everything, and of Christ Jesus, who while testifying before Pontius Pilate made the good confession, I charge you <span id="en-NIV-29803" class="text 1Tim-6-14"><sup class="versenum">14 </sup>to keep this command without spot or blame until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ,<span id="en-NIV-29804" class="text 1Tim-6-15"><sup class="versenum">15 </sup>which God will bring about in his own time—God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords, <span id="en-NIV-29805" class="text 1Tim-6-16"><sup class="versenum">16 </sup>who alone is immortal and who lives in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen or can see. To him be honor and might forever. Amen.</span></span></span></span></p>
<p class="top-1"><span id="en-NIV-29806" class="text 1Tim-6-17"><sup class="versenum">17 </sup>Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.<span id="en-NIV-29807" class="text 1Tim-6-18"><sup class="versenum">18 </sup>Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds,and to be generous and willing to share. <span id="en-NIV-29808" class="text 1Tim-6-19"><sup class="versenum">19 </sup>In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.</span></span></span></p>
<p><span id="en-NIV-29809" class="text 1Tim-6-20"><sup class="versenum">20 </sup>Timothy, guard what has been entrusted to your care. Turn away from godless chatter and the opposing ideas of what is falsely called knowledge,</span> <span id="en-NIV-29810" class="text 1Tim-6-21"><sup class="versenum">21 </sup>which some have professed and in so doing have departed from the faith.</span></p>
